Controls
- Use the mouse to adjust your view and aircraft orientation
- Exception: Holding right-click or enabling keyboard-only controls mean the mouse doesn't affect orientation
- Left click or press Space to fire primary weapons
- Press W and S to pitch down and up
- Press A and D to yaw left and right
- Press Q and E to roll left and right
- Press Tab and Shift to increase and decrease throttle
- Press R to reload weapons
- Press 1, 2, or 3 to select an available upgrade
Aiming
Remember to aim ahead of your target, especially by using the 'lead' indicator icon. If you don't see the icon, the target may not be in range. Lower level aircraft can't be aimed too far away from their current orientation.
Score
- During level 1, you earn points simply for surviving until level 2
- If you destroy an enemy aircraft, you get a fraction of their score
- If you destroy a submarine or balloon (the former requires cannon), you get a one-time bonus
- If you capture a submarine or balloon (by staying nearby for a while), you get a recurring bonus
- If your aicraft is destroyed, you lose a fraction of your score
Instruments
You can learn more about the status of your aircraft by checking instruments in the bottom right corner:
- THR: throttle
- IAS: indicated airspeed
- ALT: altitude
- MG: machine-gun ammo
- CNN: cannon ammo, more damaging than machine-gun
Caution and warnings
In hazardous situations, a warning may be displayed in the center of the screen:
- Out of bounds: too far from center of world
- Stall: insufficient airspeed, compromising maneuverability
- Hypoxia: excessive altitude
- Over G: excessive G-force due to aggressive maneuvering
Teams
While playing, you can press Escape to allow your mouse to interact with the team menu in the upper left. Teams share a single score. When a member dies, the score fraction transferred is lower when there are more members.
